As someone who used to be an avid swearer (in a respectful way and at appropriate times) I have to say that I have become more drawn to the PG lifestyle. Or to be more specific, the obvious switching of a censored word in place of a “bad word”.
I find it has more character and you can kinda of play around with it

What I mean is that instead of your basic F word, you can instead switch to something along the lines of “freak”. For example:
- What the FREAK?
- Alternatively “what the freaking frick?”
- For FREAK sake!
- For fricken’ frick
* the word “freak” can be used interchangeably with the word “frick” depending on personal preference
This last one may seem a bit out of pocket, and also not using the word “freak” but it deserves a mention for its complete lack of care for the entire English language.
How more obvious can it be that you aren’t some sort of pre-teen trying to sound rebellious but not wanting to say the “f-word” out loud?
That’s why I find you also have to emphasize the FREAK when you use it just to show that it is in fact ironic and you aren’t scared of your mum taking your phone off you for a week.
That being said, you can’t mess with a classic in some cases.
Let’s take bitch for example. You can’t really change it up without sounding like you are trying too hard. So like you gotta keep the tradition and respect the word.
But at the same time you can still switch it up to make it seem a little less insulting or aggressive like:
1) Biotch (pronounced bee-yaw-ch)
2) Beach (context is key)
3) Bitch what the FREAK?!
Now that last one is my favorite because it helps to give the sense that I understand what a swear is and I’m not trying to be disrespectful with it because I’m coming in there with the emphasized “freak” to show I’m just being a bit goofy.
That leads me to the second example, beach. This is a little play on words for you all because it sounds similar but you can get across that you don’t mean the area of land next to the sea but that you are tryna say the “b-word” without being that biotch, if you catch my drift?
Personally for me swearing isn’t really a big deal however I have realized more and more that it isn’t actually really used that often. I thought nursery school children picked up on these things? NAH LITERALLY JOKES! I know the appropriate time and place to use such language!
But for real, these words aren’t actually said as much as you would think so I find it to be more respectful to say instead plus it kinda makes it a bit more fun and creative rather than just using the same-old words over and over. I mean there is a point where the word is over used and fortunately these alternatives help to avoid that.
For me, using these words ironically help me to get out that I am mature and understand the weight and use of swear words but that I also can express myself in more depth and in a creative way.
You have to admit using swear words can help to give that extra spice to your argument so that’s why I like to use a more PG alternative so I’m also respecting others.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. What do you think about using swear words and do you do anything similar to me to “trick the system” in a way? Apart from that, I hope you have a FREAKING great day, stay safe and stay yourself PERIODT.
