10 Top Tips To Stay Warm In Winter That Actually Work

If your dad is like mine in any way at all, they refuse to put the heating on, or at least not high enough to actually feel the effects. So I am nowhere to give you some tips for staying warm in your house and don’t forget to share this with the rest of your family just as a wee tip because they will really appreciate it. But let’s just get right into it. Oh and that reminds me, make sure to read the text underneath each tip for more explanation and how to do it for optimum warmth.

1. Turn On The Heating

Now I know that sounds like a bit of a stretch, but the easiest way for you to stay warm inside in every room of your house is to turn on the heating. Surprisingly enough it isn’t that hard to do so and can work quickly. I know some people may complain about the money but the truth is you would rather be warm and spend a bit more money or be literally dead with more cash that you can’t even use. So definitely this is a great one to think about

2. Put On a Jumper

Make sure to read this explanation because it is important. What you want to do is look in your wardrobe and pick out a nice thick jumper. This will really help to keep you warm when you go downstairs to turn on the heating. So while that is 2 steps, it is very effective and one of my favourites

3. Put On Slippers

I highly recommend this for those who have wooden or tiled floors because it is scientifically proven that cold feet will make the rest of you cold. Surprising isn’t it! So it’s important you have something on your feet for going downstairs to turn on the heating to your house

4. Go Into A Smaller Room

The science behind this is that smaller rooms stay warmer because the heat is less dispersed. That is why I go to my utility room which is the smallest in my house and conveniently also where my heating controls are. So I go into the small room until the heating is on for long enough and then go back to my nice toasty bedroom.

5. Stay Close To People

So I suppose this isn’t the best during ‘rona and also isn’t great for people who don’t really like… people. But this is great because of body heat and shit. Like penguins do it. So how to start with that is just whenever you have to go do something no, do it with someone else. This could be going to the toilet, going to watch tv, or in this circumstance, going to switch on the heating. So yeah that is a great way to stay warm

6. Stay Active

I know that a lot of you will see this and be like “umm the fuck? I’m not doing that” and then swipe but it doesn’t actually last that long and you can do it in your house, so depending on how big your house is, this could take somewhere from 1 minute to 3 minutes. So here it is and listens closely because it is quite tricky, go down the stairs (making sure to take deep breathes) which is great for cardio. Then go and click the button to turn on the heating (don’t pull a muscle pls) which is great for muscle strength and then go back up the stairs but slowly so that you can cool down a bit and then by the time you have cooled down from the exercise the heating will keep you at a comfortable temperature

7. Speak To Others

Communication is key and we need to recognize how it can also help us achieve some stuff that we need. You might be wondering how speaking can help you to warm up, and it is really simple actually. All you have to do is take a deep breath, and at the top of your lungs you shout “can some turn on the heating?!” The only fault is that sometimes parents won’t want to do that so it could mean that you have to resort to some of the options that are above, but if you get the right tone and volume, then this is definitely a good option to go for.

8. Shower/Bath

This one is actually no joke a good one but the thing is you will be warm during it and then when you get out it will be even worse than before so I guess you just gotta weigh up the pros and cons at that point. And for me, baths are boring as fuck but I like the sound of them so when I have one I basically have to just bring my whole bedroom in with me so I have something to do. It’s also hard to get the right balance between boiling hot and sweating your ass off and being absolutely freezing. So I usually go for the classic shower, not that you give a fuck.

9. Use Single-Use Plastic

This may be confusing for some but if we keep using plastic the way we have done for a while, our whole entire earth will warm up. I’m pretty sure it’s called global warming or some shit but yeah although it may take a year or so, we could soon have natural heating. It could kill us all but then again at least we would die warm. Every cloud has a silver lining. *pls understand this is a joke because I don’t want David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg running after me*

10. Listen To Anti-Vaxxers

This may seem hard to be able to achieve but it actually isn’t. There are surprisingly a lot of idio- I mean people who don’t want the vaccine. You can find them in the streets, but other hotspots include the Managers office of your closest restaurant or supermarket. There is also many reported to be near your local town hall and can be recognized by their chants “we want freedom” or something along the lines of that. If they by chance don’t have a sign then just look out for the usual Karen haircut. The reason this will keep you warm is because it will make your blood boil. You will try not to punch them so bad and try to speak with them reasonably but that takes a lot of energy to do. So it will both distract from the pain of the cold, and redirect it to the pain that is society. I would even say that you can speak your mind to them because it can help to create heat by movement. So I guess just take your pic!

It’s the “engine” or the “back room” that controls everything.

Well, NLP is like a hacker that can break the password of your subconscious mind and change there. It allows you to change beliefs and to change who you are, as a person, to your core. If NLP is like a hacker that tweaks your subconscious mind so you can become the person you want to be, if NLP is like a design tool that allows you to redesign who you are, then brainwave entrainment is a tool that makes it faster and easier.

What I Do To Get Ready For Bed

This isn’t your regular “get ready with me” bull shit. This is some relatable content. I’m not about to say “I write down everything I love in this world. I smile because life is great!” Nope because who the actual hell even does that? So, prepare to feel stalked because my bedtime routine is going to be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Usually I get ready to get to bed at around 9. Now this doesn’t mean I am about to fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow, but I get ready to just lie around for the next 2 to 3 hours, as per usual. By 9 I am already in my pjs so that is one thing done and I have also had a cuppa tea so I’m in the bedtime feeling if you know what I mean. I get all the boring as shit done and over with like washing my face and brushing my teeth. But because I am such a pro dentist, I have until it is half an hour since I brushed my teeth because of acid and teeth and all that crap. It does fuck all I think but I feel very… como se dice… grown up. While I am doing those things though, I never want it to be silent, so there is literally a boring ass tiktok video repeating itself like 10 times until I can finally swipe it with my finger. It’s bloody annoying but better than nothing. I also do that when am brushing my teeth which is actually really pointless because I literally can’t hear anything because I have an electric toothbrush but again, worth it. Then after that I usually walk between my room and my bathroom around 9 to 10 times because I always seem to forget something. The amount of times I have forgotten my glasses until the next morning when I am literally blind as a bat is literally embarrassing. Like my brain just doesn’t give a shit by the end of the day.

So when that whole process is over, I switch on the LED lights. I try to keep them fitting with my mood, you know. It hasn’t been on green for a while :/ but anyways, then I am just vibing and trying to get all comfy while I watch more tiktok or just any series on Netflix. Although, it can’t be a scary one because if it is I always feel like someone else is in my bed. That will be quite difficult when I eventually get married and end up punching my husband in the face because I thought he was the green ghost from ghost busters, but oh well, that will be his problem. In all honesty though, why can you never find a comfy position when trying to lie in bed. I mean it is so random because during the night I could be sleeping like a fucking mushed banana and be comfy as shit, but I could be in a normal position while I’m awake and feel like I’m in Shrek’s swamp or something. But anyways, I like to get to that point where my eyes are so heavy I physically cannot open them, but you can also measure it by whether or not you have got to the Indian digger, mansion people on YouTube. I gotta give it to them, they make some good content. But after a few of their videos I know that it is probably best to not get any further. I do wonder what is after that stage. The answer to life? Who knows.

Now comes the time that you turn your phone off. This can really resort in a number of things, let me list them for you.
– Crying
– Existential Crisis
– Embarrassing moments
– Not feeling tired any more so you roll around for ages
– Going back on your phone because your bored as shit
– Making up a dream world to fall asleep to
I guess that is a few of them, but depending on who you are I suppose there are more. The most rare one is actually falling asleep. For me that stage only comes after completing 3 or 4 of the above. But it’s all a bit of fun. My real genuine question though, completely off topic, is there a quick moment where we suddenly just switch off and we are like unconscious, or is it like a gradual thing because we never know when we fall asleep until we wake up, but yet we witness it everyday. Like isn’t that weird and scary that there is a point where we are now asleep and we didn’t even realise it.

I would say I am more of a morning person myself so that is why I am not one of those people that you usually find moving their whole bedroom around during the night. What I am Doing To Help The Environment | What Are You Doing?

Hey there guys. So a while back, when I was volunteering at this run, an older guy was with me and others. They started chatting about how much rubbish there was everywhere and how global warming is getting really bad. Being the youngest there by at least 15 years, I didn’t really say much, oh and also because I am very socially awkward. And being socially awkward, the only time I talked was at the wrong time. The one guy said “this summer is supposed to be quite warm” and I was like “oh I hope so, that would be nice” and he looked at me as if I just insulted his entire family. I had kind of forgotten about their whole global warming conversation, so he was saying about how it will be warm because of pollution and all that. Then he said, “that isn’t a good thing, but I guess your generation just don’t care about this type of stuff”. And I just looked at him in kind of disbelief, and I swear, if “respect your elders” wasn’t a thing, I would have been having a proper show-down how-down with this bitch. But instead, I just stood there for another 30 minutes having to contain my anger. What the fuck does he mean by “you generation just don’t care”. Have you not seen bloody Greta Thunberg? Did you just forget that your generation is the ones that caused all this global warming shit? Did you think about that!? I think the fuck not. Anyways, that is not the point of this post hahaha so let’s get into it.

Since then, I have been even more determined to make a difference on the earth. Preferably a positive one lol. And I also wanted to do it in a modern way to show that the technology we use today, isn’t destroying our generation, and to show that moving forwards is the right way to go. And being the teen (who hates school with a passion and will do anything to never have to go and work again) I am, I decided I would make a cheeky wee business. Although it will require shipping to get to people’s houses, over all, the reduce in plastic waste and non-renewable energy, will hopefully make more of a positive impact over all. You see, although going out and picking up rubbish and walking/cycling instead of driving is really good and really helps our environment, don’t you think it would be better to pull out the root of the problem. It’s like weeds. If you cut off the top of it, you won’t be able to see it anymore which is great as that is what you want, but it will keep growing back no matter how many times you cut off the top. However, if you get your hands dirty and pull out the weed and all it’s roots, it won’t grow back. Now obviously, that doesn’t completely solve the problem, but it slows down the process of so many more weeds spreading. So let’s compare this to global warming and pollution. If you get the trash of the streets and walk more instead of using petrol/diesel cars, it is like cutting off the top of the weed. You can’t see it anymore and it looks as though you are solving the problem. But the truth is, the roots are still there, and in this case that means that people are still using all the plastic, non-reusable waste, and eventually they will need to use there cars. There are hundreds of cars moving every single second, and that only accounts for one town. So what do we need to do? PULL OUT THE ROOTS! We need to completely get rid of plastic, we need to replace non-reusable with reusable, we need to have electric cars powered my renewable energy. And I know that is easier said than done, and I know that will take a lot of hard work. But in the words of Mary Poppins “well, the quicker your into it, the quicker your out of it”.

So let’s stop moaning, blaming and talking about it. Let’s start working together to make it right again. To bring back life to earth before it is too late. They say we only have until 2050 before the effects of climate change become irreversible, so literally every second count. And although 30 years may seem like a lot, we have no time to spare, so every little thing you do makes such a difference. Let’s start this story off right so that we can tell our grandkids the time the world came together and saved the wonderful planet we live in, instead of telling them what it was like before darkness and misery spread the earth. What I Do To Survive Being In School

Key word here is survive. You wont enjoy it but you will at least make it through the day, I hope. So here it goes, and to all the people in school, good fucking luck, you are gonna need it

Empty space

I really like this one and it is really easy. So while your teacher is talking about how much they hate online school, all you are gonna do is stare at the wall. Now, make sure it is at a place where nobody would think you are staring at them. Maybe look out the window, and then just zone out. It is quite relaxing if I say so myself. You can kind of hear the teacher but you are just listening to the random thoughts in your head and you just forget that you are sitting on a chair made for someone with no backbone.

Internal

So while your teacher makes the joke about ‘it is great to see your faces again, or at least half of them’, just scream. Not outwardly of course, but like in your mind just have a rant with yourself. I find this really therapeutic but just don’t let it get to the point where you want to cry with anger because that would be a bit embarrassing to be honest. It also means you wont actually accidentally say it out loud and it can get quite intense in there. I just think about how much I bloody hate school with all my heart and how none of this even matters and life is a joke. But you can decide what you want to say.

Meaning Of Life

This may get a bit dangerous for some people, but as a way to look interested in the subject they are teaching, it is really useful. So while your teacher asks the class a question, nobody answers and they say ‘are your mics muted’ all you need to do is just think about the fact we are in the middle of nothing that is growing into something constantly and we are made out of particles that have been alive for all time and the fact that matter can’t be created or destroyed except it had to be created at some point because how could it of just appeared from nothing. I do scare myself sometimes but it helps me to not give a shit.

Draw

My skills have actually become immaculate, well for modern art anyways because this shit be looking like a 5 year old did it, but who cares. So while your teacher is secretly drinking wine in their coffee cup, all you need is paper, pen and boredom. These 3 things really go well together. You don’t even have to know what you want to draw, just draw fancy scribbles until you see something you could make out of it. Kind of like trying to make sense of the mess that is our life.

Experiment

This is an interesting one. While your teacher is talking about how much they care about your mental health while they hand out a massive tests, what you want to do is really focus and see if someone can hear your thoughts. This is quite a difficult one though because you need to do it in a secret way because if you say ‘I want to see if anyone can hear my thoughts’ in your head, then they will hear it. So just scream at random moments to see if anyone jumps. So far, nobody, but is there hope, no.

If you know a different language, computer software, website building, designing, logos, or anything like that then you can already start selling, and that is only a small part of it. The first question is, what the hell is affiliate marketing? And what I can tell you about that is it is kind of exactly what I just did. It is where you join an affiliate position for a brand and you just promote their product and website. And like I said on the first paragraph, I do get commission if someone were to click on it. I just like to get that across so that you guys can trust me and know that I don’t want to steal your money, I would rather direct you to someplace and get a few benefits off it. It is basically just suggesting things to people but you actually get payed. On most websites all you need to do is scroll down to the bottom and there will be the word ‘affiliate’ and then all you need to do is sign up and post these things where others can find them.

This is a really great website where all you need to do is record your voice while you review a website. So literally you just say what you think, just anything and they pay you for it. There are ones which can go to $30 to $120 but those ones you have to do on a proper face time, so I just do the ones that are $10 dollars, and that is like £6.50 which is pretty good for only 10-15 mins of work if you ask me. Look, I know you are all probably crying at the screen saying “I thought you loved us!”. I actually learned that I really enjoyed this stuff because I can write about anything on my mind and whenever anyone like my posts I just get so motivated because somebody actually was interested in what I said. We all feel like we are too weird for this world and, maybe I am, but there are others out there who actually do want to hear what you have to say and it really is rewarding. I use WordPress for mine and you can use whatever you want really. You might not actually make any money off it, I know I haven’t, but it inspires me to find other ways of making money so that I can keep doing this instead of some boring desk job, although technically I am at a desk right now, but that’s beside the point.

Ok, you guys definitely think I am some type of English freak. I am not I swear. I haven’t read a book in ages, but then I heard of this book that helped people to be financially stable and I was like, well what have I got to loose. £13 to be exact. But so far it has been worth it and although yuo may be like, how will a book make you money? I have just started this and it is one where you just submit surveys that you don’t have to record anything, just answer some questions. It is a simple points system and depending on what you do you can get a certain amount of points which can give you money on paypal or for different gift cards, it is quite good I have to say. This can be a bit risky but I have heard of some money who make piles of money from it so I am willing to take the risk if I am honest with you. What I Do To Survive Online School

But I will share some tips of what I do to prolong my survival.


Imagination

For me, I like to zone out whenever I am on a useless topic. And because I am zoned out for the majority of the day, I like to create a world in my head that is even slightly better than the one I am in now. For example, I go to the deepest darkest pits of hell, that’s my favourite one. Really takes your mind of how horrible your day is. Or you could imagine that you have gone into space and your helmet falls off, the good thing about that is that I am not stuck in my house and my continuous headache actually makes sense. So yeah, 10 out of 10 do recommend

Research

Oh don’t get me wrong. I am not researching the work we are doing ahaha definitely not. Actually, I am researching ways to make money to get out of school. My teacher is literally talking about fibre and water right as I am typing this so… I am also trying affiliate marketing so hopefully blogging and marketing will get me THE HELL OUT OF HERE. Sorry for shouting. But yeah I just have the class as ‘background music’ while I look up actual useful stuff. Multi-tasking?

Juggle

LOL I am not out here literally just juggling in class, well… not all the time anyways. I just have the juggling balls for some reason and just throw it at my wall and catch it or just throw it up and down. To be fair this one is a good one to do. Definitely does help to be honest. And then you could put juggling on your resume… if you want to be a clown. But anyways it is quite the fun one.

Clean My Room

If you have got to this point during class, that is when you know you have just given up completely. Me? Yeah I have got to that point in pretty much all my classes, so yeah. But somehow my room never actually gets any cleaner. Kind of just an organised mess but I mean what else am I supposed to do? Listen?

Shappin’

LOL I swear I don’t talk like that in real life, but like why is this kind of a bargain. Like I literally have you hooked. I got the promo codes for you. I mean I can’t just fuel your online shopping addiction with at least helping you a bit. I am currently wearing my desert sky boutique jumper and I mean comfort is one of the most important things for online school. So yeah, I won’t snitch on you. And besides, you are just supporting small businesses.

Talk To Yourself

Firstly, don’t judge. Second, I am not crazy. Lastly, It is quite fun. You don’t have to start a bloody conversation, just talk your thoughts aloud and make whatever weird noises or songs you want because I mean who is gonna hear you? Nobody you care about anyways so. Just a warning though, MAKE SURE YOUR MIC IS OFF. Please, spare the embarrassment. It can me fun to do this because you distract yourself, you don’t just hear nothing and you can say the weirdest things that you want to. You may also find that you are quite funny, ya never know.

Anyways, you will still get bored as FUCK in the end but this will slow down the process of literal diagnosed boredom. What I Do To Relax Myself

Mood Lighting

You know what, I am going to guess you guys already have this in your room, but, if you don’t, click here and you can get one now. Anyways, you may be like ‘how the hell are lights gonna make you relax’ and I would be like ‘bro… shut up’. To be honest, I don’t know why. I mean it isn’t the light, it is the colour of the light helps me. I mean it is like school. The building doesn’t make me hate life, the actual school part does. You know what I mean? But yeah, I usually like to turn off my main light and switch on the orange-yellow light which makes my room feel really nice and cosy. For me also, it just calms me because it makes you feel safe and at home. Then there are other colours, of course, like blue which help me to calm down. Actually, I am pretty sure that blue is supposed to make you feel more relaxed. Hmm? Maybe I will have to make everything in my life blue and all will be sorted. Well, at least I can do that with my lights. And you don’t have to be a sad bum like me to have these lights. I mean it just transform your room to whatever vibe you want it in. It is also great for at night when you are so comfy and you can’t be arsed to move, because BOOM, remote control. Yeah, your welcome.

Weighted Blanket

These are an investment and a half. So I got one of these for Christmas and I was a bit skeptical. I was like, is this just a placebo affect or what? And for me I move a lot in my sleep so I was like is this gonna work for me. Let me tell you right now, I slept so well. And then I was talking to someone about it and they were like, therapists literally use these because they help to release certain chemicals or something like that and I was like damn. Truly is a life saver. Also, for a quick wee tip, you should buy a weight which is 1/10th of your body weight or something like that. It was weird though because I knew it was gonna be heavy obviously but like it blows your mind because you are looking at a comfy blanket, yet, it could take your head off it someone threw it at you. But yeah, click here anyways if you wanna get one and I definitely do recommend them for someone who gets really anxious, or if you just don’t sleep well, or if you just want one. I mean you do you.

Diary/Journal

I don’t want nobody on here to be embarrassed about doing this step. If you grew up being told that you should toughen up, I am sorry, but please try to realise that your feelings are valid and that writing them down is such a great way to lay them all out. You can do this in so many ways as well. I mean you can just have your basic, lined diary, which you can get by clicking here. What is also a great idea that is becoming more popular are bullet journals. I only started this at the beginning of the year and I didn’t really understand how it could help. But what I realised is that it help to have all of your negative thoughts out at the end of the day. You can link up some emotions with sleep or exercise patterns and you can just track or write whatever you want that will make your life easier. It do be fun to look through Pinterest at all the artsy work people do, try to recreate it, and fail horribly. But click here so you can get a bullet journal too. Reading

I do have to admit, I only do this in desperate situations because I can get bored easily but when I do it really helps because it helps you to escape if you know what I mean. Especially during lock down, it transports you away from the walls you stay in everyday and takes you to wherever you want. It is truly special. I will link some of my favourite books but also a link to a kindle because I have found that they are better for me. You don’t have a clunky book in your hand, it is light, doesn’t take up a lot of room, and you can buy other books on it as well. The first book I recommend is Noughts and Crosses, this is actually a series of books but I will just link the first one for you so you can find out if you like it. I won’t spoil anything, and you can read about it on the description in the link, but it has everything you could want in a book. This one is actually a book that I couldn’t put down, and that is saying something. Another book I recommend is Opposite of Always. Now this one is a feel good book. I mean the plot is really sad but what I mean is that it shows true love. It shows what you want others to do for you. It shows so much emotion and I could read it over and over again. I 10 out of 10 do recommend. The last book I am gonna mention is The Freedom Writers. OK I am not gonna lie to you, I have not read the actual book yet BUT I have watched the movie (which I also highly recommend) which is about the story behind this book and I can’t wait for my mum to finish it so I can read it. This book contains real life stories of a classroom of kids who live really different and difficult lives. They each have an entry about their story and from the movie, I know that their stories will really open your eyes to the world of others which I think we all need so that we can be more knowledgeable about others lives and not just our own. Maybe you might even find someones story you relate to, but either way you are going to gain something from that book. Knowledge or reassurance that you aren’t alone. Right, and last but not least, here is the link for a kindle. I am not gonna lie to you guys. This is expensive, well depends on who you are obviously, but the good thing is that you can get books for cheaper on this instantly because you don’t need more paper, you don’t need it shipped. stuff like that that bring the cost down. You could also say it is better for the environment, but either way, kindle or not, you should try to read more. Escape more.

Earphones

You may be thinking, ‘how the hell do earphones make you relaxed, this is ridiculous’, and to that I say, ‘sorry I can’t hear you, I have my earphones in’. The great thing about earphones is that they help to immerse you in the song or the show or whatever by blocking out more sounds from the real world. Sometimes if others are really loud or you just can’t take anymore of the world, putting in earphones can help to block that out more. I am not saying it is the cure but for me it helps me to focus on the words in the song or the different sounds in a show. It helps me to concentrate and focus on that moment. I will leave a link for wireless earphones and also non-wireless earphones just in case you prefer one to the other or have different price ranges. I mean this may not work for everyone but it sure is worth a try.
